There once was a very mean dad and three sons. Two of his sons were ugly and mean (Tibble and Fibble). His last son , his step son (Jackie) was handsome and nice. His whole family played the cello, but Jackie had a problem with playing the cello. Whenever he played his brothers and dad would laugh and say, "You sound horrible!"
Worst of all whenever he played, his strings broke. He tried buying new strings and a new bow but they still did not work.
The family got an invitation to perform for the princess. It said: I would like to invite you to perform for the princess. Whoever plays the best on the cello will win a happy marriage to princess Elizabeth. Jackie's dad and two brothers were so happy. They surely thought they could win the princess's hand in marriage.
Poor Jackie wanted to win, but his strings would break! When he told his brothers and step dad they laughed and giggled and teased. He started to cry and his brothers and step dad left for the performance.
Then he heard a beautiful sound and turned around! He saw a cello
that had face of an old grandma.
''Do you want to go go to the performance? , said the cello.
"What !'', said Jackie. Jackie was very suprised.
"Would you like to go to the performance?" the cello said again.
''Yes!" said Jackie! ''But Cello , I can't, because any time I play, my strings break .''
"I'll give you a pair of strings that won't break."
Jackie was so excited!
"But the magic will only last till 12:00." said the cello.
Jackie went off to the performance right away. When it was his turn to play and he pulled his bow across the first string, everyone said, "Wow". Then he started to play and couldn't stop. The princess was sure she would marry him.
Jackie's dad and brothers were furious. Before Jackie knew it, he heard "Ding, dong" and the clock struck twelve. He jumped up and left. When he was running, he dropped his cello.
The princess looked everywhere, but when anyone played the cello, the strings did not break. When Jackie played the cello, they broke! They married and lived happily ever after.
